Sound Waves Magazine Review of Hope Flies
Recorded in a private school classroom in Avon, Connecticut, Sun Zoo’s second album “Hope Flies” is phenomenal and invigorating with rhymes that move your heart and beats that stun the mind. The first track of the album, “The Dao of Sun Zoo,” sets the tone with swelling beats and stunning lyrics. Keeping up the high energy is “Escaping” with an unbelievable story that we can all relate to through either personal experience or observation. Sun Zoo dabbles in some slower tracks as well such as “Something Is Wrong,” which is a cry for hope for the people of American society.

Sun Zoo is a rarity that the underground hip-hop scene can’t live without, and his honesty shows in tracks such as “Just Fuckin’ Around,” and “Get Free.” It is in these two tracks that Sun Zoo blows up the microphone politically by attacking the music industry on more than one level. Sun Zoo attacks rappers for not being “real” and truly shows them what it means to be a real rap artist.

Sun Zoo is bold and daring throughout all eleven tracks. However, it is not his mature lyrics and beats that captivate you, but rather his search for truth and hope in mankind that will leave you mesmerized throughout the entire album. Sun Zoo is a necessity to hip-hop; he is the great white hope. (Download it for free at www.sun-zoo.com)
