Free Albums Galore (a blog) Review of Hope Flies
My recent complaint on the lack of good free and legal hip-hop brought responses from the readers of this humble blog. A couple of readers recommended Hope Flies from Providence rapper Sun Zoo and it truly is a find.

Hope Flies is a fine album of serious indie hip-hop. Sun Zoo has a gift with lyrics and a straight ahead method of delivery over the well placed samples and down-tempo beat. He is not afraid to tackle serious issues such as addiction (”Escaping”) and the insincerity of the media (”Get Free”). Other tracks like “November Alone” and “The Sip” reveals his personal struggles with a sincerity that goes way beyond the ego tripping of most commerical rap. One of my favorites is “Take A Rest ” in which Sun Zoo urges us to reconsider our workaholic culture over the strains of a Steve Miller riff. Hope Flies is competitive with, or even better than, a lot of the hip-hop you hear on the major labels.
